Presentation of the collections

Although the Jacques Doucet Literary Library preserves the manuscripts of such emblematic works as Apollinaire's Calligrammes, Gide's L'immoraliste, Valéry's Charmes or Breton's Arcane 17, the richness of its collections is not measured solely by the value or notoriety of a particular text or writer. It stems above all from the grouping together of manuscripts and correspondence from authors who are now known or unknown, which form an exceptional literary network, in perfect resonance with the spirit of Jacques Doucet and his constant concern for modernity.

The collection at large is composed of :

  • the Jacques Doucet collection: historical fund constituted by Jacques Doucet himself
  • the general collection: enrichments of the Jacques Doucet collection after his death through donations or purchases
  • specific collections: funds constituted as such, after the death of Jacques Doucet, around a personality, through a significant donation or legacy, possibly supplemented subsequently
